For me it's Vieira..I don't think Essien will ever have such quality..but who knows..

that is themost ridiculous question! Michael Essien is nowhere near the class of Patrick Vieira! Essien has proved absoutely nothing, Vieira has been considered one of the best midfielders in the world for more than a few years.

Viera was losing his dominance in his last year or two at Arsenal. I think he needs much more someone to play off of who is quality, like Makelele for France or Cambiasso and company for Inter Milan.
Essien was pretty good with Lyon and sometimes he shows that form with Chelsea. I have heard him likened to Gerrard but that's a joke. He is still young and in time could be pretty good, but for now Viera is the better of the 2 all around.

Yeah I'm gonna have to say Patrick Vieira. After all he played for Juventus, my once favourite team until they got demoted. Now I like Bayern Munich!
