im english and always support the home nations so y not the other way round? or y u hate the union jack, afterall it was a scottish king who created it.

I am English and i do not feel any hate towards me from the Scottish. I have enjoyed both working and personal friendships with them. If i had to choose between the Scottish or southern English I'd go with the scots. I am northern and when the North south divide raises its head i feel i belong to them even more. Scotland is a Beautiful place full of friendly people.........

I have nothing against Wales and neither do the Scots that I know. You have raised many points the first the language Gaelic which was banned after the battle of Culloden along with everything do to do with the clan mentality which nearly wiped out the language and is slowly being revived. Second we do not hate England it is a rivalry much like England’s with Germany and France but I’ am sure you don’t hate those nations. Besides there is a lot of resentment down South towards the Scots nowadays I would say your argument would swing both ways. Our national anthem is in English but England doesn’t even have a national anthem they use the UKs anthem where is the national identity there. This did include a verse about crushing us rebellious Scots before it was removed. It is the right of any nation to chose independence if they want it. If Kososvo and Montenegro had the bravery to go it alone and they have not descended into anarchy or collapsed into nothingness. We didn’t ask to join England the King of England and Scotland saw the opportunity to unite the Kingdoms and bribed many of the Scottish parliament into voting and those who refused the bribe abstained to vote to quote Burns "We are bought and sold for English gold. Such a parcel of rogues in a nation" and I know there is an argument against this view and I’ am sure the Panama fiasco played a part. Bigotry is a problem in the West of Scotland which isn’t nice having being a victim of it myself however both clubs have done a lot to eradicate the problem. If your girlfriend got hassle for being Welsh all I can say is all nations in the world have idiots.

Becoz the Scottish think that they're innocent but infact Scotland is not. Scotland has invaded England more
times than England invades Scotland and if the Scottish saw England as weak with no army they would take their chances to invade and kill every Englishmen alive.
As for the union jack. The Scottish hate the union jack becoz of Westminster a place in London is in charge.
The Scottish are jealous becoz London is an English city and that Edinburgh is not in charge. But those scots
don't quite notice why. It is becoz London is the largest city in west Europe and is the largest financial place on earth with only new York or Tokyo that might be even more.

Im scottish,I live with an english guy,in England.I have no problems at all with english people.I do admit most scottish people hate the english,I am not one of them.

I don't think the hatred has a foundation. I think after so much time it's just a cultural thing....."We've always hated them, so why stop."
We have very similar things go on here in the United States. I live in Pennsylvania, and there is a three or four county area in Western Pennysylvania that the rest of the state treats like a bunch of redneck hillbillies. They may not hate us...but what they say generally isn't nice.

yous English think yous are far more superior to everyone and every thing,take any sport for example and yous have the trophy already in the cupboard,yous have it won before it starts,and the bit everyone loves and laughs at is when yous get knocked out,the look on some of the commentators and players faces is priceless,I'm 100percent Scottish and we are always looked down at by yous English,yous have went plundering peoples country's for hundreds of years so really all yous are is a shower of thief's nothing else,if my country ever went to war with that sneaky nation of people that call themselves English id be the first to enlist,as for the union jack? burn it, Mon the Scotland

my OH is Scottish.
I am English.
He loves me but spends ages teasing me about all things English - with a twinkle in his eye.
It is not that the Scots truly hate the English, more so that they are very, very proud of their roots and are blunt about it.
