Force=?N
Mass=5.1kg
Acceleration=3.4m/s2
Force=5.1X3.4
=17.34N

tension is the force exerted on the bucket hence by newtons third law, its equal to the force the bucket exerts on the rope.

T - W = 5.1 x 3.4
T = 5.1 x 3.4 + 5.1 x 9.81
= 67.4 N

T = tension
W = weight of bucket

Force = mass * acceleration

In your case:

Force = ( 5.1 kg ) * (3.4 m/s/s) = 17.34 Newtons
