i really want to name my child that but a friend said that isabel is just a form of jezebel because there are no j's in the hebrew alph

from Jesusbelle , but she disgraced herself...
Isabel came later , from France
IS A BELLE ... roughly translated
She's a Beauty ....

I'm not really sure but, I don't think so, my aunt is named Isabel, I never heared her called Jezebel.

Name your child what you want. Jezebel sounds like as nice a name as any other. Don't let some 2,000 year old literary demon stop you.

Isabel, Isobel, Ysobel, etc., is the Spanish form of Elizabeth. Spanish newspapers have a peculiar habit of referring to Queen Elizabeth II of the UK as Isabel II.
