I think he sang about it because that was late 80's when it was becoming proper among singles to sleep with the 1st person to come along. With AIDS a major story line in the press at the time he saw that people should really get to know each before taking that step. Couples can still have fun without sex. Its the mental knowing someone, not the physical that is a relationship.

yeah he's a guy but did ya see him? he might've well ave been a woman n women are more restrained bout taking their clothes of! maybe he was hiding something underneath his clothes and dint ave to take em off to ave fun?

I think it was just a song. Lots of songs are deep, witty, profound and meaningful, but some are just a bunch of words. I think this song is just a song and we should not look too much into it - just think of it as a fun song.
