Well since you are now sexually active then it would be a good idea to have one done. They'll usually tell you to have one done about once a year.

You lay down on this table in a gown and put your feet in the stirrups, the doctor will insert the speculum and open it up to look at your cervix with a light and then he/she will take a swab from your cervix for tests and such. It's very uncomfortable and it might hurt a little, but it's better if you completely relax.

You should have one a year since you have become sexually active. The doctor will to the basic heart rate, blood pressure tests and ask a few questions. They will also to a breast examin. Then comes the actual pap smear - they will insert this insturment to open the cervix, it won't hurt, but it will be a bit uncomfortable and you'll feel a little pressure - with a long q-tip like thing they will take a sample from inside and you'll be done. It's not that bad.

you do no longer want a pap smear once you're a virgin. while you're or have been sexually lively then i think the counseled age in u.s. is eighteen (dealing with what human beings at here have pronounced). in the united kingdom this is 25. Pap smears seek for Cervical Intra-epithelial Neoplasia (CIN) it somewhat is the pre-cancerous replace that occurs in the cells taken out of your cervix. you will no longer get CIN without needing had Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) in some unspecified time sooner or later, as particular lines of this virus are the substantial reason for cervical maximum cancers. maximum sexually lively women will settlement HPV at some time, often without ever realising. in case you have never been sexually lively, you will no longer have decreased in size HPV so possibilities of having CIN are very practically nil. this is significant to decide for pap smears each and every 2 or 3 years as quickly as you have had intercourse.

U should have at least 1 a yr. Some drs say 1 every 2 yrs. They r noy exactly comfortable, but they shouldn't hurt. The dr will check ur breasts for lumps and take a scraping from ur cervix to look for abnormal cells. They may or may not test for std's.

you should go pretty soon, you want to go about every year, even if you only have slept with one guy, cause that doesn't mean that he might not have anything.. it doesn't hurt , a little uncomfrontable at first ,but don't worry about it.. the doctor will just ask you some questions, take a look, and do some test.. relax its okay and it becomes less stressful after a few years!! Good luck.. also some more advice, because it is your first, you might want a female doctor if a male on would make you feel worse

remember if your not comfortable having your GP or Gyno doing the smear, you can always go to a woman's health nurse/Centre and they can do it.

It doesn't hurt, it's best to relax and have a chat with the person doing it, they will warm the instruments for you and you basically breath out when they insert it.

You should get one every year. the doctor checks to make sure you have no lumps in your breasts and they take a scraping from your cervix. I tdoesn't really hurt, but it definitally isn't comfterble.
