My laptop won't react when i insert any cd's.?

there's literally nothing happening, this little disk icon comes up by the mouse and it makes alot of noise like it's trying to read the disk but then nothing happens.
it's games, cd's, dvd's, nothing will work.
i've also tried when you load it from my computer but it says there is nothing in the drive.
not got a clue about computers but it says philips and freeline on it if that helps (?!?)
anyone any ideas?

You might first want to check the connections on the drive. If that is OK and it still doesn't work you may need a new drive.

Are you sure you're not putting the CD's in the cupholder?
