Asians, does that make me racist?

2006-10-15 02:11:52 · 12 answers · asked by Anonymous in Politics & Government Politics

but do intentions really matter?

2006-10-15 02:16:04 · update #1

it doesn't matter what type. What i am trying to get at, does it make me racist if i don't like a certain race? To be honest, i don't think it does.

I am not saying I dislilke asians, but to answer your question holly, it is very simple. When someone is given repeated exposure to a certain type of thing(in this case race) and each experience is worse than the last, humans tend to stay away from such and dislike it. This is all natural and found in psychology. So I guess the point is, if someone considers this racist, is it really their fault?

haha, holly, i have given no one a thumbs down! Maybe someone else out there is wondering the same thing as me, and thus is realizing there are no good answers yet

That's good holly that you don't believe me, because there is no way to prove my innocence or guilt. Is a belief justified with no facts?

Good point on the other part of the question

I think you can hate whomever you wish...

What makes you racist is when you implement policies designed solely based on race (either for or against, btw)...

That depends... If you have no real reason and are referring to Asians as a whole, then maybe. It's impossible to hate an entire group of people without it being caused by some amount of racism. If you know a few Asian people and coincidentally don't like any of them, it is not the same thing as saying you dislike the entire group.

Edit: But how can you justify disliking an entire race? Surely you have not had the opportunity to really get to know a significant amount of them. There are exceptions to every rule. I certainly wouldn't want to be disliked by someone because of an image or single experience one person held or had.

It cracks me up the way you're thumbs downing everyone. What did you want people to do, congratulate you and tell you you're not a bigot for this? Good luck with that.

If someone is aware of his/her reasoning for being hesitant around a particular group (ex: having had multiple negative experiences with a specific race), then he/she is equally capable of overcoming it. Most fears can be conquered by recognizing them and putting forth a sincere effort to understand them. In this case, you already have the first part of that process done by having pinpointed your reasoning.

-The thumbs down thing: I don't believe you.

Clever. And yes, you can prove it. Give me a thumbs up and I'll know you're not a liar. Simple. :)

OK, fine. So you're not a liar. I was wrong. Sorry. (Kind of).

I don't think so. I believe being a racist means that you think your race is superior.

What you are is a prejudiced bigot. You claim to dislike someone you don't even know. It is sad for you. Because of your irrational bigotry you won't have the chance to meet and know some fine people.

If you honestly don't like anybody that is Asian then, yes, you are a racist.
