Its not a case of trusting his judgement as no one has come out and said what he said is wrong just taken out of context, but it was they way that he has done it, he has gone straight to the papers and told them what he feels which some may say is a bit sly but he is still entitled to his own opinion. He shouldn't be sacked for having the guts to speak the truth how he sees it.

In my country, Pakistan, two Army Ciefs were successfully sacked for speaking their mind and a third one was unsuccessfully sacked (The prime Minister got sacked instead).

Does Great Britain want to behave like a third world country ?

I don't think so. In other words, my answer will be 'NO'. The reason? Generally speaking, he (whoever he is) knows that he has the freedom of speech and we all know and well aware of this, right?
I think the people or organisation that hired him have their own justifiable reason(s) to employ him and put him on top of the organisation in which he is in charge currently.

His comments seem to have been taken out of context.

No one has disagreed with anything he has said. So his judgement is trusted.

They should have a referendum in their country. If the result is against what he has suggested, he could be sacked.

He said something no one else was willing to say out loud and publicly. i applaud him for what he said. Finally an American ally had the guts to say something against the war.

Absolutely not. More power to him! It is about time someone spoke their mind, even if it is not the establishment viewpoint.
