Hypersphere. A sphere is a 2-dimensional shape, embedded in at least 3-dimensional space. A hypersphere is a three dimensional hypersurface (which could be embedded in at least a four-dimensional space) with the property that every point of the surface is equidistant from a given point, the centre. Any three-dimensional 'slice' through the hypersphere results in a 2-sphere whose size depends on the distance between the centre and the 'slice'.

The person who is saying "hypersphere" is full of it. You can look in the glossary of most geometry books to find that the definition of "sphere" is all the points in THREE-dimensional space that are the same distance from a fixed point. A circle is two dimensional; a sphere is three-dimensional--not to mention the correct answer.

it would need to be a sphere.

every point on a sphere is the same distance from the center. if you use, say...a pyramid, points on the sides are closer than a vertex...or on a cube, points in the middle of a side are closer than points on the side of a side.

hope it helps
