Yes A fraction mean less than a whole. And what 3/4 means . you take some thing and Divide it in four parts, then if you just take 3 of the four parts and maybe add them together you would have 3/4 . now it does not say how big the item was at first it just says take anything Divide it in to four parts and see how much 3 of those parts added together is.
