I have become a HPT junkie! Took 2 hpt 10dpo, came out negative both times. Period is due tomorrow but I couldn't wait, so I bought the generic brand hpt at Dollar tree, New choice or something like that. Well, took one last night got a verrrrry faint 2nd line that at first I thought I was my imagination, this morning took the other, again got a verrrrry faint 2nd line. My question is could this be evaporation lines or could I really be pregnant? Both times the lines were really light pink in color, read within the recommended time frame, and haven't faded away yet. I'm really confused about this, and hoping these are true positives. If anyone has any insight on this, please write back asap. We have been trying for 5 months after having a miscarriage at 10 wks, so were really looking for some help on this one. I know we should just schedule a Dr. App. but I'd rather know for sure before I go, instead of having Dr. tell me if I am or not. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks to all.

HPTs are notorious for being "indecisive"! ha ha There are several factors that could determine the intensity of your second line. The level of hcg in your urine will be the biggest determining factor. If you take the test during the day (NOT with your first-morning urine) then the concentration will probably be lower, resulting in a fainter line. Also, the level at which the test detects the pregnancy hormone will make it lighter.

I highly recommend the First Result Early Detection or Answer Early pregnancy tests. As an experienced surrogate mother (giving birth five times!), I have done probably close to two hundred HPTs and those two brands seem to be the most accurate.

Best of luck to you and your husband!

The faint lines may be because you are in the borderline time period. Your choices are that you can wait a few more days and try the HPT again or even though you don't want to hear it, schedule a doctors appt. and requests the blood test for HCG be done. That is more accurate than the HPT. Good luck!

Any second line, no matter how faint is considered positive and must be confirmed by a lab (through your doctor). This does not confirm you are 100% pregnant as there are conditions that can give false positives but it usually means yes.

two lines means pregnant NO MISTAKE. BUT never read a test after any longer than 8-10min as they become faulty and you can get all sorts of answers, but if the 2 lines came up within the 1st 5-10 mins then YOU ARE PREGNANT :) :) :) :) congrats

That is the exact same kind i got and guess what faint line means your preg. Im 39 weeks now.

Its because the hormone in your body isnt build up enough to show a really dark line.

So now you gotta go to your docter so they can give you one to confirm it.

Call the number that I am certain is on the package. If in doubt about anything like this, go see your physician. Home pregnanacy tests are not always accurate no matter what the claims are. Go see your doctor.

I did loads of home pregnancy tests too, it doesnt matter if its faint or bold (line) it does mean your pregnant. Just see your doctor to make sure.
Congratulations if you are!
