I too live in Atlanta Gainesville, and I have a few house plants. One Split leaf philo, I've had for 10 years. I have in a container that is called a water saver, my Hawaiian Ti plant is in my bathroom, I have two Christmas cactus in the bathroom, and two tropicals on top of the refrigerator, I can't say I do anything special, just water when they are dry, do not over water or over heat
them. If your home is dry in the winter mist your plants. Not to much fertilizer because you have not direct sun to help the plant use the food. Put them in the shower to water them and take them out when you come home from work. That is a standard practice of mine. They love it! Give them enough light put them outside in the summer if you can although not at all needed to have healthy plants. When they get to big for their pots put them in a new one ,one size bigger. The big thing with house plants is not to over water or over fertilize. Happy Growing. P.S. Ihope you don't have to drive 400 everyday!
