My shoe heels always wear quickly on the outside of the heel. In Pilates it's stated that also puts pressure on the knees causing knee pain.

You need a shoe that is built to support supination. Some that I know of, because I do the same thing, are Reebok and Easy Spirit.

The best thing you can do is buy a shoe that refuses to wear away on the side, and replace any shoes that are. When the shoe is tilted you 'double supinate' and that is really bad.

You may need a custom made Orthopedic insert. You are not walking in a balanced manner, on the flat or ball of your foot, and the heel. You are walking to the outside in a tilted manner.

The correct insert will balance your weight more towards the inside preventing ankle problems at some later time. You are really putting a strain on your ankle and every one of the hundreds of bones and ligaments in your feet, as well as the knees. It may take a little time to adjust and be naturally comfortable.

An Orthopedic Doctor may make a cast of your foot and be able to fashion the correct size and support needed.

Hi! Everyone is different, so you need to get the best ones for you. Best source is a good podiatrist. They're really good at figuring out the whole problem -- what makes your foot roll out. They can either make inserts specially fit to your foot, or else recommend commercial ones, that usually can be found at a sports store. Made to measure inserts I think are about $300 -$400, in Boston; sports stores have commercial ones for $20-$30 and up. There are podiatrists who specialize in sports medicine -- treat marathoners, etc. Good luck!

Hi you really need to be seen by your gp he will refer you to the appliance dept in your local hospital where they will take plaster cast moulds off your feet and then make the inserts for your shoes. If you dont get proper inserts later on in life you will have alot off problems with your ankles and ligaments.Go see your gp and chat with them about this.

your condition is called supination. you could always take shoe to shoe repair shop and have the build up outside of shoe to prevent rolling to outside of shoe. you may have underlying foot condition that could be treated also. check out myfootshop.com for some great foot condition articels and see if they help you also. i work in podiatry office.
