Self help is the best help. China once defeated India and took away 4000 sq kilometres of our territory. For this boldness china is made a member of security council. Till today The UN Has not doe any thing about this un authorised occupation of china,
China is not satisfied as yet it can march into India any time and the world nations particularly USA will watch silently. Is it not necessary for India to have a deterrent against china.
See it from another angle. India has never initiated any of the wars with Pakistan yet Pakistan is ready to attack India and has atom bomb supplied by China. USA supports and aids Pakistan as it suits its designs. Do you want that India should be subjugated again by Pakistan or china?

In terms of threats from the neighbours , it was correct . But some of the leaders went bragging about and that didn't help India .
But really speking Nuclear Weapons are such a terrible thing that
they should not be with any power or country.

India's decision is absolutely correct as there are two nuclear states as its neighbours(china and pakistan)... though using of nuclear weapons may put india in a fix. for example... if there's a indo-pak war and pak fires a "shahein" missile into India, it can reach upto "Chennai" and may cause huge damage here... but if india retaliates and attacks pakistan with nukes, it may risk it's own territory from being destroyed by radiation!!!!
so,the best option for India is have nukes(as a detterent against china or may be some other country which may attack india in course of its ascend to the status of a super-power...) but "NO FIRST USE POLICY PLEASE!!!!!!!"

India is been nuclear or awhile now ,as a matter of fact India and Pakistan almost had a nuclear war

Yes, Because India is upcoming regional Super Power in Asia only second to china and we should have deterrant like nuclear weapons to Prevent irresponsible attack of our country. But India will never go for first attack.If pakistan attack India ,India will make sure that pakistan will disappear from Map.

with constant threat from China and Pakistan and croos border terrorism, India's decision to go nuclear is totally correct....and you should not forget, in it's vast history there has not been even one instant when India has invaded any country, so misusing of nuclear technology is out of question.......
India has gone nuclear to protect itself from it's neighbours...
