Cell membranes are semi permeable, meaning that some molecules can move into and out of a cell through the membrane. Osmosis is a form of passive transport where water moves through a permeable membrane moving from a solution with a high concentration to a solution with a low concentration.

Semi permeability is the same word as selective permaebility. Selective permeability is the term in which the cell membrane selects which substance leaves and enters the cell by its ionic bounds so that the cell won't become overcrowded w/ substances and probably will burst.

a membrane is a wall or barrier.
if it is permeable then anything can pas through.
if it is semi permeable then, only certain substances or molecues
can pass through probadly based on the size and shape of the "holes" in the membrane.
hope that answers your question.

as much as i really want to, i cant coz i forgot. all i can say is that a semi permeable membrane is like a filter that permits the passage of a certain molecule while it inhibits another from one compartment to another.

semi permeable membrane means it works on two transfer ways ( the first is passive transport , the second is active transport )
