Because there are so many popular sports in the U.S. athletes have more options than they would elsewhere. It is my opinion that in any group of say, 100 people only a certain percentage have the physical ability to be a world-class athlete. Now, if that 100 has a dozen sports to pick from, tha thin the talent pool.
Soccer in the US has gotten much better and as I'm sure you know there are U.S. players that can compete in the top leagues in the world. But many who would hve chosen soccer had they grown up in Western Europe or South America wind up playing AMerican football, basketball or baseball instead.

Well our country in soccer stinks because baseball and footbasll are our major sports but for like brazil and all those countrys soccer is there major sport so they worry more on that

'cause we don't care about soccer. our best aheletes play football. the one's who aren't good enough to play football play baseball and basketball. only the atheletes not good enough to play these other, more popular sports end up playing soccer.

they got french coaches? maybe..nah they stink anyway...your country's coaches? forget it i feel they dont have italian coaches to make them a better team.. big thanks to bruce arena --hes italian ..thats the reason why usa rose higher in the competition . they better wise up and get coach lipp after bruce arena resigned.

i guess..ppl there they are inclined towards other sports like baseball, basketball...and start playing these games at a young age..and dont take soccer very seriously..and...maybe...i dunno...
