Yep - stop letting people buy council houses. You can't get a 3 bedroomed house round here for love nor money cos they've all been bought!! Then the owners have the nerve to complain if they get unsociable neighbours. What did you think would happen when you bought a house in the middle of a coucil estate???
Ok a bit off the point of the question there - I was listening to a bloke on radio two the other week who had started squatting in a house in England somewhere that was worth something like £9,000,000 and had sat empty for long enough. Now he and his band of friends have legal rights to stay there and keep the place tidy etc............ RENT FREE! How fantastic is that? Listening to him, he reckons there are so many unoccupied properties in this country, that theres no excuse for anybody being homeless. Its certainly a thought..............

There is no cure for homelessness. There are people who need homes and could e accommodated with public housing but a small group of the homeless are mentally ill and do not want to be in a home of any description. These people will never get off the streets.

Some people had no option when they were made homeless. They lost jobs, families or had a crisis. Been there, done that. All you can do is show sympathy, not criticism. Hopefully, the situation will resolve itself. Others don't want to be helped, making the problem that little bit worse. You could ask "Why do people go missing?" It's for the same reasons.

All that we can ever experience is the phenomenal world, which may not be at all like the real noumenal one, only the baby Jesus can see that, as he is unrestricted by time and space and the limitations of the human mind. So wait until the baby Jesus comes back from heaven to say hi........ the little Messiah will intercede with the sinners that caused the problem in the first place and all will be well. I don't quite know when that will be but I am sure some nutter out there will be able to tell us .

Build more council housing. The government may not like it as they are trying to get people to buy houses many cannot afford.
Since the 1980s and Thatcher's 'right to buy' scheme, the level of council house building in this country has gone down alarmingly. So has the quality.
Many local authorities have also passed their stock onto ALMOs - Arms Length Mangement Organisations - which is a step towards privatised housing, higher rents and less security for tenants. Perhaps if tenants made their voices heard a bit more, then we wouldn't be treated as second class citizens to mortgage payers.

We desperately need a house market crash. Prices are absolutely ridiculous. It has mainly come about because lending agents seem to have an endless amount of funds to lend and the government has pursued a low interest rate policy for years. Also, the modern generation seem utterly unafraid of debt. The buy to let boys have also done their bit and the Bank of England have been far too timid in raising interest rates. There must have been political interference here, because, in the interest of appearing to have a strong economy, the government have a particular vested interest in keeping house prices high. It will eventually end in tears though, because too many first time buyers are being sucked in at very high prices. It is incredibly irresponsible of the government to have allowed this to happen.

Remove all who shouldn't be here and invent/find a way to stop them coming back - this would include all foreign prisoners.
Realise that our infrastructure is overloaded and stop all further immigration. (For genuine cases many other countries have a lot more room than us). These measures would mean more jobs available, so all fit people could work; the pressure on housing would reduce, so those in work could actually afford decent housing. We should also remember we no longer have an empire and thus no duty to interfere in other parts of the world. It seems by so doing we are creating enemies we never before had. We would then have more money to spend on curing the sick and educating the illiterate, so they could work and afford decent housing. All very simplistic, I realise, but sounds a whole lot better than the mess we are in.

If government pay attention to the homeless it will be a god send to them. They should open up an organisation to help homeless by giving them priority to council house work and education. Give more opportunity to them to get into social activities

The amount of money we here in the UK send abroad in the name of Charity and ends up into the pockets of those in high places should be spent back at home helping those less fortunate than ourselves.
I no longer give to Charities abroad for this reason and am sick and tired of seeing people who really need help being ignored on our streets on a daily basis.
There are important Charities here that desperately need funding, and we should think of them first.
When I say money sent abroad I do not mean sudden disasters, but saying that how many countries would help us if disaster struck here.

Bring in a mortgage benefit so that people who lose their jobs or are unable to work can get help to pay their mortgage and won't lose their house.
Stop giving council houses to asylum seekers.
Stop accusing people who lose their homes through mortgage repossession of making themselves "intentionally homeless". Thats cruel and a downright insult!
Stop private landlords from charging so much for their crappy shitehole properties and give the tenants of private landlords more rights.
