Hi yes Jamaica is a great place to go to, it really depends on what you are looking for Negril is a great place to go to its great for children as well as adults.
Trust me I know I went there 7 years ago and I ended up living there, you need to go to Ricks cafe, jungle nightclub the best club in the whole of jamaica,do all the parties that they hve for all the tourist on the beach road, but if you want to get away from the tourist attractions then hook up with the locals they are very helpful go to the local bars you won't pay the earth for a redstripe beer.
The gas station in Negril is almost like a hangout place as it seems like every one knows everyone, im not saying thats where you should hang all the time.
People are really friendly.
If you are looking for really romantic beaches just a few minutes drive out of Negril there is a place called orange bay just passed it the beach is called half moon and the other place is Rhodes hall you cant miss them, here they do horse back riding they have restaurant ,it is really secluded and great if you just want to spend time with your honey.
Negril you can party 24/7 it really depends what you want.
you must go to mi yard after you've been partying they do the best fried fish dumplings plantin etc and its really reasonable.
The weather in January in lovely and hot so you will miss hurricane season as it is now.
If you are going to stay at an all inclusive its a good idea as Jamaica is not that cheap, however I would suggest mingle with the locals or you will miss out. all inclusive the best place to stay is sweptaway its just been refurbished, Riu Grand, If you want to stay on the cliffs theres a place right next door to Ricks Cafe they have this infinity pool its a bueatiful view, i'm trying to remember what its called? they have these huts its like something out of a James Bond movie.

Travelling to Jamaica during the beginning of January is ideal. The weather is likely to be anywhere around 23 degrees Celsius.
There is a lot to do in Jamaica, visit a plantation, go horseback riding, see a historical site or Great House,
take a sailing cruise, scuba dive or snorkel. Go river rafting, swimming or climbing a water fall or visit a rum factory, or
enjoy a nature park, the possibilities are endless. Of course, try to stay in the safe zones and tourist areas like Montego Bay,Negril, Ocho Rios, Portland. Of course the South coast will be good to visit for eg. Treasure Beach, in St. Elizabeth as well as a visit to the cool and alluring place of Mandeville, Manchester. If you'd like to go mountain biking check the Blue Mountain Bike Tours or if you'd like to mountain climb try to get to Halfway-Tree in St. Andrew/Kingston and then a 20-minute bus ride to Papine, Gordon Town. On your way you'll have a chance to visit 2 of Jamaica's top Universities. Have a great vacation and remember that Jamaica is "Irie" meaning everything can be cool/relaxed fun and frolic. It's "no problem".

Yes . it was my dream to go to Montego Bay. We went in Feb. and the weather was warm and wonderful, lush green and wonderful, jamaicans and their accents....although I found some people there quite unfriendly. Our plane was delayed and when we arrived at the airport we were all starving , and no one would help us with even cold sandwiches...Incredible. The next day I found the street vendors selling "Jerk Chicken" amicable and warm...And it WAS delicious!Accompanied by their beer called Red Stripe. Traveling , souvenirs and such there were also more expensive that I'd thought it would be. But then again. It was 10 years ago...Prices may now vary, but the country I'm sure is just as beautiful and warm. Have fun!

It will be warm and tropical. Don't expect grand beaches in Montego Bay--more likely in Negril. Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios is fun. Food is good. Eat Jerk anything, Patties, its all very spicy and yummy.
