Why don't you let Wikipedia tell you about wikipedia?

I love it. Why I wouldn't advise taking everything it says as gospel it makes for a good starting point. Of course it is written largely by geeks (I mean, COME ON, who else would do it?) so the areas of most expertise tend to be technological etc.

But it is still growing and expanding at an amazing rate and more and more diverse articles are being added each minute.

I think it's overrated. A more interesting site (that actually predates Wikipedia) is h2g2, created by Douglas Adams to have a real-life Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. You'll find that the people who post articles there value accuracy better and it's far more rigorously moderated by people as it's also part of the BBC. It's also more light-hearted and has that rough guide feel to it.

I use Wikipedia as one resource, but only as that... ONE resource. In other words, I always verify any information that I find on there with other credible sources. I use it as a guide for ideas and thoughts of others, but I never believe everything that I read there. Therefore, if you check your sources and substantiate them and their facts, you can use Wikipedia as you would any other resource such as books, magazines, or websites.

Considering the fact that ANYONE can add to its contents, I think it is not very accurate in its data!
