If your computer has ports on the front & back, does one set work and the other doesn't?
Open your computer case- there are sometimes wires which connect the front USB ports to the motherboard- if those wires have slipped off the connectors, the front ports won't work anymore.

Go to the device manager and see if your ports have a yellow ! next to them. If so, try to roll back or update the driver from there. Go to the BIOS on boot and make sure the ports are enabled correctly there. If all else fails, there are good addon cards if you have a free pci slot.

ok first off USB ports are generally run by your CPU they arent in it, if they have worked in the past but not now you have either broken them or you have uninstalled the hardware (check in the hardware part of control panel and see if its installed)
If they dont work i recommend getting them replaced OR
If it is a new piece of USB hardware that you are plugging in then go to that hardwares website and download the driver for that piece of hardware
XP shouldnt have a problem but if its WIN 98 or something then you will need to download and intstall a driver
I hope this helps

check the front and back of your computer for an extra usb port. See if that works. If it does, get a splitter. If not, maybe Tiger Direct may have something.
You may want do a virus scan on your computer first.

I am having the same problem and my friend too. They like work sometimes for few seconds but then the device just disconnects. I am not having this problem with my USB modem though as it stays connected with no problems.
