(Hypothetical question) If you came across a violent killer sat eating their dinner in a restaurant, and you knew what they had been up to, could you take the law in to your own hands? If a hand gun magically appeared in front of you, could you walk up to that criminal (even though they were eating a quiet dinner and not currently engaged in any criminal acts) and blow their brains out?

I'm asking this seriously. A lot of people on Y!A seem to take a hardline approach to violent offenders, but could any of you actually carry out your threats? Seriously?

PS, I am not saying I'm innocent of these thoughts, but I admitted to myself long ago I couldn't pull the trigger.

If you pulled that trigger, then guess what you'd be? A violent killer!!!! Are you thinking?

Definitely couldn't pull trigger - especially not in a public place - everyone around you would be scared witless! Anyway, you would be sent to prison for murder, so what purpose would it serve? If the violent killer had murdered one of my family then that would be very different matter entirely - I could then kill him with my bare hands never mind a gun!

Deep and scarey question! Isn't it sad that we have to think like this? Our world is in such bad shape and there are to many of the corrupt people out there, we would be killing off a lot of people. If it were a rapest (especially of children) I would be so tempted to ,But I have a consious at and hate violence of any kind. the government is of little help as well as the police. It seems to be a game to them. There are so many nuts on the streets today, I'm not sure how to handle this situation. Send them to Iraq let them fend for themselves!!!!

I have to admit I wont be able to pull the trigger even though I would like to. If I would be abe to do that I would at the same level as that person.

For me, if you take away someone elses rights to live, you don't deserve to be living. But that decision does not lie with us, and that is why the death sentence has been taken away, it is not up to us to decide when a person should die, that decision lies with God only.

The idea is good, but would I know for sure that this person was of sound mind, and was 100% guilty, and then I would ask myself do I want to lower myself to there level, or am I better than them. However if that person had killed on of my own then yes I would do it without fear, without worry, but again the person would have to be 100% guilty, and if this was the case I would hunt the person top the end of the earth, I would hunt his/her family until they gave them up, then it shall be done.

No because shooting them makes you a bad person too. What gives us the right to take lives? Two wrongs don't make a right. Also, think of the effect on other diners - they would be terrified! I believe in peace and goodwill to all men, which is the basis of most religions. And in terms of revenge, surely it would be a worse punishment to keep the person alive and make them suffer, than to kill them and set them free?

if i knew for certain that say he was a sex offender or a terrorist then i think i could kill them. but i would have to know myself or seen it myself.
if he killed one of my family i would torture him, and cause him a very slow death (i know this makes me a sicko and also a violent killer.)
but family is family.
i am going to contradict myself here and agree with not having the death penalty for the sake of innocent people being killed illegally.

No. Its not proper for me to do the job. If the murderer had killed a member of my family, I'd be tempted. The governor of my state must sign the execution order and state government must execute murderers.
