Hi, I had an ablation last year that caused third degree heart block. Had a pacemaker installed three weeks after the ablation. My pacemaker paces 99% of the time. I have no other cardiac problems and Cardiologist told me my life expectancy is normal. So, I wouldn't worry if I were you. Most of the time I forget I even have the pacemaker.

Are you talking about the pacemaker being dangerous? If so, forget it. My mother had a pacemaker put in when she was 75 years old for the same reasons that you did. That pacemaker was a blessing. She was able to do everything again. They told us it would probably have to be replaced. My mother lived to be 97, and she never ever had that thing replaced. It worked just fine until she passed from this world. Heart blockage has to be taken care of. I hope the pacemaker does the trick for you. My friend had a triple by-pass in February, they didn't even consider a pacemaker for her. She too is fine. You are probably on a strict diet and exercise program. I know a lot of people with a pacemaker and they have not had any more trouble with their heart after it was put in place. I wish you the best, and God bless you.

A lot depends on the coronary vessels which are blocked as well as the no. of blocks. Coronary angioplasty is a procedure done where a balloon like device is used to open up the block and sometimes a stent is kept at the site to keep the vessel patent. In Coronary artery bypass grafting a part of another vessel in the body replaces the damaged coronary vessel. The procedure should be decided only after discussing all the pros and cons with a cardiologist and cardiac surgeon. Though both procedures have a high success rate they may not give a permanent cure as it depends on a lot of factors like presence of other diseases(diabetes, hypertension), levels of cholesterol., lifestyle etc.

This isnt really the place to ask that question. You need expert advice! Ask your doctor or heart specialist.
PS With the pacemaker you should be fairly safe unless the pacemaker goes wrong, a very very small possibility!

To my knowledge is not. The pacemaker was fitted into your body works in the same way the natural pacemaker does.
