Very good point. Which is the only country in the world that has ever dropped a nuclear bomb on another country?

It's not the Americans who think they should judge other countries, but the US Government. In my humble opinion, the government has gone beyond any measure of competence and accountability.

The American people did not know the government was about to drop the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki; because we were fighting with the Japanese at the time, the majority probably would have supported it. But I seriously doubt the American people supported the nuclear arms race with the former Soviet Union, as I also doubt that most Americans support the dropping of any nuclear bomb anywhere.

What you have not yet learned in life are the subtleties of context.

We saved more than half a million lives by dropping the bomb, because military planners were preparing for 1 million dead with the land invasion of Japan.

The bomb was used to save many more Japanese and American lives than were lost. Learn your history by studying the details of the decisions for which cities to bomb and see that everything was done with the context of saving more lives than losing.

The truth is that a conventional land invasion would have required multiple years to complete.

Well, when you attack or threaten and attack. As in the case of Japan bombing Pearl Harbor.

As John Locke puts it.

"my own defense and the right of war, a liberty to kill the aggressor, because the aggressor allows not time to appeal to our common judge, nor the decision of law, for remedy in a case where the mischief may be irreparable."

When another threatens to kill us there is no time to appeal to judges for a decision. There is no reason either to wait until such an enemy stikes a deadly blow before we react. The enemy has clearly stated their intentions and there are no reparations that can restore life once its lost so we are bound to strike first if possible.

For that reason I think we would be justified and making a massive nuclear strike against Iran.

We need to appeal to no higher judge to determine if we deserve to survive or not. We certainly don't need to leave that decision to the whims of our enemies.

I just want to say that ending a war by firing a nuclear bomb, is'nt the best thing to do, in the process causing millions of ppl to die and, and it's after effects even worse. America is the super power, so it thinks that it has the right to judge very country.

Who better to judge than the country who has used nuclear weapons and the country who has had nuclear weapons used against it - America and Japan. These two countries are united in their stand against letting a petty dictator have and use nuclear weapons - they have seen the consequences. They have seen the light!

we all learned from the bombs that were dropped, weather it did infact save over a million lives, or not is debatable as we will never know, however nucular hollicost on such a scale as the world has never seen is quite possible unless nukes are banned. Countries that can barely feed themselves are devloping nukes! Why?
