Hi from Germany. Depends on when you will go by train. Right now they advertise in German TV special prices like Stuttgart - Dortmund 29 Euros (weekends only) and 69 Euros, when you book maximum 3 days before you go. Best information you can get is from www.bahn.de

100USD, if you just pop up without a Bahncard and buy it at the counter...more if you buy it onboard.
