The 2012 Olympic games, is conflicting with Ramadan (July 21 to August 20 of that year). Seriously, should we bring it forward so they can take part?.

I feel insensitive myself for saying THEY, who the hell am I?. when clearly we are one!!!
What I am saying is should we consider the values of others - just to make it a truly multi-cultural games?.

The point of Ramadan is to make a sacrifice of some comforts to gain understanding. If someone can not compete in a sport because of Ramadan then it is a choice of faith. To move the events would be against the spirit of Ramadan.

Just because it happens to be Ramadan why should the Olympics be moved to another date. The Olympics are always scheduled for the country there are in for many many reasons, mainly for weather reasons and also the 2012 Olympics happen in the school summer holidays so it will be less of a strain, if it was to be moved for Ramadan it could cause a precedent. Just because it happens to fall on a religious event it shouldn't be moved to accommodate it, it is sport and not political or religious and should always be treated separate.

It can't be the first time that the two have clashed. The olympics are always scheduled during August.
The two clash in two years time in China, but you're not questioning that are you?
Just because it's being held in London, you're being hyper-sensitive, when It's got nothing to with Britiain when it's scheduled for.
Everyone knew when the games were scheduled for before the bidding started, and it didn't stop Tukey and Egypt putting in initial bids, and they're both essentially muslim countries.
stop trying to create problems where there are none.

I have to answer that with a question: Is it prohibited for Islamic athletes to compete in sport during Ramadan? Is it like some Jewish athletes not competing on the Sabbath?
In general, I don't think the Olympics should be rescheduled.

No why should we. Ramadan is where all Muslims go on a go slow and don't eat in daylight hours so its not much of a disruption to their holiday, doesn't stop them taking part
Why should the rest of the country put Muslims holidays first we are a Christian country do they respect our beliefs no. If the games where is a Muslim country then yes. but its not so they can like it or lump it.

If you do ramadam then you would not make a good sportsman so there is no need to change dates. If you took every religion in the world into account including the 50,000 christian groups you would have to cancel the Olympic permanately!

Yes, bring ramadan forward a month because everyone likes sports, and maybe there could be some commercial tie-in like apricot juice sold in the games

I think it falls on someones celebration many times but unless you are on the OLYMPIC committee or some high offical what ever you think won't matter...It takes a lot to do re-scheduling of something of this magnitude!
