There are quite a few questions to answer here so I’ll take them one at a time:

<> Should the Unconventionals have gone home last night from XFactor?

Yes. According to the rules of the show, the act with the fewest number of call in votes is considered the weakest talent and, as the host revealed during the result, they had received the lowest number of votes. Ultimately, the decision was left up to the judges and I have to personally agree with Simon’s final assessment of them. He may be harsh sometimes, but he’s usually right. Although they are a talented and unique group, on the night, the Unconventionals' performance was vocally messy and far inferior to that of their opponent, Dionne.

<> Do we have the real star in the last 12?

I would hope so. At this early stage, however, it’s hard to say for sure who it is.

<> Did anyone look like a singer last night?

Although her singing seemed a bit muted, Nikitta, more than anyone else, certainly looked the part. Leona and Ashley on the other hand were fashion disasters (charity shop hand-me-downs?).

<> Did the judges pick the right candidates for the competition?

Unlike Simon, while she is lovely and a good singer, I’m not a big fan of Leona. Her performance on the first night was sub par - karaoke. Also, The MacDonald Brothers, while adorable, are rather dull on stage. They’ll need a huge shot of charisma in the coming weeks (or a load of friends and family calling in) if they’re to survive. Eton Road, Ben, and Ray appear to be the main acts with the most potential.

<> Have they been given right songs and training before the show or just waste of money and time for all of us?

A lot of these acts are young, have little experience in front of a live crowd (never mind in front of millions of TV viewers) and they're just getting their ears wet in the music business. All things considered, I think they’re all doing remarkably well. In the end, we may not have a singer or group with THE x-factor, but hopefully they will be talented and confident enough to allow someone to cultivate it into a successful career.

But if not, at least the drama of show is entertaining and airing on free tele.

Hope that answers all of your questions (though I'm sure there are some who will disagree with my assessment)!

Yes they should have gone home, they were awful to watch, they looked like a bunch of librarians doing karaoke at a Christmas party! I think Louis wasted a place by putting them through, he should have put another group through instead. I was worried that the same was going to happen as it did last year with the Conway Sisters, they were rubbish, but because there was five of them, they were getting five times as many votes than a single singer. I was worried that because there were 6 in the Unconventionals that they would receive 6 times as many votes (obvously all their friends, family, colleagues would vote for them) I liked Leona and Ashley. Can't make my mind up about Ben, i think he is wrong for the X Factor, too rocky, although I think he is a good singer.

The unconventionals shouldn't have gone last night as Louis chose the wrong song for them and they were cheated! I think we do have a real star but don't know who yet it's still early days. I thought Robert had great stage presence last night and opened the show with a bang! I think the judges did right this time much better than last year. I thought the choice of songs was a bit rough on Louis part however, Eton Road were fabo! Who do you think will win?

The unconventionals were by far the worst last night but the song was crap so it wasn’t there fault they could have tried to harmonise it better though, I don’t vote so I don’t waste my money. I like Ben He had a good voice, and I do think the Judges picked the beat of what they had to work with.

The only good thing about the x factor is the auditions they are hilarious there are no stars this year just as there were no stars last the year before ...... they get a one hit wonder at Christmas and that's it. i think Shane ward has just bought out another song nearly a year on. They should make a CD 'x factor one hit wonders'. will young is doing alright for himself but that is it don't the contestants watch the shows previously as then they would see that u might win the x factor but that's it we wont remember them after are they really that naive ???

They were definately the weakest of the lot. The song was too busy with too mch going on - that can be a problem with a largish band if everyone wants to do their bit - the X factor is looking for mainstream artistes, they were more specialised and I am sure that they will have been spotted by some agent or other and end up furthering their careers

Ben is the star. The judges said he sounded like joe cocker/Rod. I thought he was more Michael Bolton. That could've been the looks though. Glad unconventional went. So you'd rather watch Strictly Come Dancing!

the unconventionals were good but the song was too busy with them all singing - also from a tv point of view the camera work was all over the place!- thought Dionne was fanastic and she looked beautiful last night!! can't understand why she was up for the vote
I like Eton road and Dionne!!

I think this X-factor like all the other ones are a bit rushed. I don't really like any of them and the unconventionals did sound a bit messy.
