No relationship is ever 100 % platonic - its just not possible. Even if everybody denies feeling anything else, there will always be a bit of sexual tension however small this may be. Some people can live with this and they describe this then as a platonic relationship, but don't be fooled there will always be some feelings from one or the other of you.

I have had many "platonic" friendships with Guys. Honestly I can say that there is no way they can be long lasting friendships...eventually they get married to someone else and they change towards you...maybe because of jealous partner...but in the end it is pretty close to 100% strike rate when they settle down for good...they don't want some other chick hanging around like in my best friends wedding.

It may not be the case that you ever want to pursue something but if you both really want other people...then it goes without saying other people will end up taking priority...bottom line don't get too attached too a "platonic friend" if you want nothing to eventuate.

Human nature I guess. After many years of married life most couples have a type of platonic relationship going. Sure there may be feelings for each other but not the love and lust relationship there was to start with.

Serious answer from personal experience... I met some one on the first day at university and we are still pals, in a totally platonic way, nearly 40 years later. In fact I met her for lunch only two weeks ago. So it can happen, though I admit that it is rare.

If you are in a platonic relationship you are seeking hidden and ultimate mystical truths through the use of reason, however, if you stray from this path and begin to rely only on your five senses then it becomes messy! So what I am saying is that it can work but only if both parties work at it.

Most could not see themselves in a platonic relationship, and tend to think all people have the same values and principles; so they believe no-one could be in a platonic relationship.

Most of us have never seen it or experienced it.
While I don't know for sure, I would suspect that the platonic male friend would like it to be more, but is willing to accept less to be with you. Guys can be less than smart sometimes.

Well thats very normal that once you're close to a guy, people will think both of you are an item. For me, me best freind is a bloke and will remain that way. We just ignore others and be ourselves.

The people that don't believe that men and women can be strictly friends are the ones who don't know the meaning of keeping their pants zipped up and their legs crossed.

Because usually no relationship is platonic.
