Write letters to Santa Clause in early December. Address it to Santa Clause
North Pole
H0H 0H0
Canada
(that's what Canadians can do anyway...and get a letter back too I think)

Don't forget that on Christmas Eve you can help the kids leave a snack out for Santa and a carrot for one of the reindeer...leave a little note too.

Make sure you have your camera ready to capture all the exciting moments.

Churches usually have many special activities and shows centered around Christmas during December. Check some out. Or if that's not your thing, try to take in a Christmas play or movie (you might need to get a sitter to stay home with the baby).

Many malls have a special store "just for kids" that they can go into and get a present for their parents and have it wrapped right there. You'll just have to give them some money and wait outside for them, as adults aren't allowed inside....these stores usually have only gifts that are under $10 each.

Find a single parent family that is having a hard time and make a point of getting each member a nice gift. A toy for each child and a nice blouse for the mom. Make sure you figure this into your Christmas budget, even if your kids don't get quiet as much stuff. It should be about giving not just receiving.
You could invite a person over for Chrismas dinner who doesn't have family nearby.
You could also get your kids to make homemade cards or draw pictures and deliver them to a local nursing home along with a bag of oranges. Call ahead to make sure it is ok, and practice a few Chrismas carols to sing. the residents will love it!

Starting December 1st! You're kids will be wild by the second week of December... Good luck!

How about just starting slow...like with the calendar of events and reading a story each night about how Christ was born.

Sit everyone in a circle on the floor with each persons pile of pressy's in front of them. Go around the circle and let one person at a time open their presents. This way everyone gets involved and you can personally thank the person as you open it. I find this so much better than just getting a pressy and ripping into it as you eventually lose track of who gave you what. Its also a great way for children to learn to thank others and personally know what each person has bought them.

We all 6 of us decorate the house! Inside and out! We read the Christmas STORY IN THE BIBLE AND PRAY BEFORE WE OPEN OUR GIFTS! We spend Christmas eve at my parents! We get gifts for others rather than get our selves!

Try to adopt the advent calendar and learn the history. Why the advent calendar cause you have to let the children enjoy the joy of traditions.
