If moderates in the party are upset enough they may vote for Democrats. The Republicans have not been fiscally conservative which is important to many Republican voters. They also have some scandals such as the page issue to address. However, Republicans tend to be very big on national defense and rightly or wrongly the Democrats are viewed as weak in this area. Democrats tend to over estimate discontent with the party in general. They believe that because they are unhappy with everything the Republicans do that everyone else is too. This is an incorrect assumption, no matter what the polls say. Polls are often wrong. As for the party faithful, they will not vote for Democrats. They may choose to stay home to voice their discontent though. We will see what will happen in November. Personally, I think the Democrats have a good chance of taking the House, but almost no chance of taking the Senate.

Some will. But right now, a great many are so disillusioned, Republican polsters are afraid they'll just fail to vote altogether, and stay home.

No. Although we may not be all that happy with the government, we don't want to destroy it and start all over.
