I'm not gonna lie, I'm a big guy like a lot of people in America. But every time I find something cool to wear the biggest size is XL and even then it's really a medium. I'm just wondering why stores like the GAP and Banana Republic don't make clothes to fit heavy set people. Is there a store with fashionable sense that sells clothes for heavy set guys?

When I say fashionable clothes I don't mean stores like "Big and Tall" where they sell t-shirts with a big dog on it. I mean fashionable stuff like what you see at American Eagle, Banana Republic, GAP, etc.

Its actually a recurring question.

Although its very unfair, fashion stores, magazines and media are obsessed with the skinny figure, which makes clothes and nearly everything they want to sell look sexy.
Hence the reason they never focus on the large segment of overweight people - it just doesnt look attractive and glamorous enough to compel shoppers to go out there and buy.

But overweight people can look great too. It just takes a lot of creativity to make them fit into the current trends and give the illusion of a slimmer figure. The problem is clothes and accesories in a larger size are so hard to find. It really is time someone change this.

Because skinny people do the thinking... I am not overweight right now, but when I was 300+ the only clothes for women was moo moo's or big yanks...of which didn't look to go at the movies or dinning out. Course I had trouble sitting in the chairs, climbing stairs, as well as finding clothes. I bought a bike...some track clothes and stayed in my house until I could walk around the block then ride my bike two blocks in a couple months I was able to ride all the way to the high school, about a mile and back, then I blew out my knee, being overweight didn't help with that, I had to learn other exersices while I healed my knee, the clothes never got better until I got to about size 16 for women, better yet when I got into a 10! which is where I have been for a few years now. Haven't had to gain weight, no more babies. The two I did have almost killed me, I ate for two for every, forgetting after they are born you only have to eat for ONE! If you want really cool clothes and you really don't care what people think make your own clothes. women do it all the time, guys could too! My husband is a stick and has always been thin, I look at food I gain weight, he eats everything in site and never has changed pants size in 28 years. Makes me sick, I have to work at it, the best thing it to figure out how to make your self healther so you can shop everywhere. Your heart and your family will thank you. Just look at the subway guy, he has a life, wife, and is rich all because he LOST weight! Make cool clothes for guys that are LOOSING weight you will be a big hit. good luck

My husband has the same problem. He can find pants that fit appropriate, but not shirts. I was going to try on-line for big and tall men and see what I come up with. Good luck!

that's a good question, seems like these companies are losing out on big sales. some places are starting to carry larger sizes and i believe one day most places will carry them because all their customers will be bigger

Because stores think that fat people do not look good, and by wearing their clothes thay are ruining their 'image'.
