Probably because she did most of the decorating, she just wanted the money from you to decorate it. Women nest and our home becomes more to us than just a house. She does get half of everything...lol. Sorry, but if I separate from my husband he is leaving too..lol. IT'S MY HOUSE!!!

With all the best sense of humour I can muster..why the heck is everyone assuming it's always the guy that loses?
I lost a fabulously renovated home that I planned & worked hard for to my stenchy lawyer ex-husband!
My revenge..he's still stuck in New Zealand suburbia; I'm broke but travelling the world and living an interesting life. All power to me & to hell with the stupid house!

It would depend on whose house it was BEFORE you married. Did you buy this house together after you married? If so, it is YOUR house as well as HER'S. In that case the house should be sold, and the profits split. If the house was her's before you and she married....then it's STILL her house. I know, I had that situation once. I owned a house and he didn't. We married, he wanted a divorce, and he thought he could force me to sell the house and split the profits. It doesn't work that way. Anything you had before marriage is still yours. Anything aquired during marriage is 50/50.

Divorce is really horrible. I guess our marriage , our home, our family is what we have worked so hard for. When the marriage falls apart, then so does our whole world.
