People can be scared or have a phobia about ANYTHING - for me its spiders and nothing but nothing can make me see reason - I know all the stuff about being bigger than them, they wont hurt me etc. but I see one and I freak. For someone with a fear or fast cars or rollercoasters its the same - its nothing to do with getting out of the comfort zone.

That depends. some people aren't actually scared of the speed or the height, more the crashing and the splating! I personnally won't go on rollercoasters etc because i have a bad back a i worry what effect they might have (so bad i've had nine ops so it is kinda major). i don't like heights either but i will push myself in that respect.
I do agree tho, if people don't like it, stop moaning and stop going to amusement parks!!!

Some good answers here, but as for pushing urself outta ur comfort zone..only YOU can truly decide if ur ready for that..Im very afraid of spiders, wasps, and heights..I pushed myself with the heights, but not ready yet to face spiders and wasps...and if u don't wanna go on a rollercoaster/ fast car..its easy..DON'T !

It's only a phobia if there is no real reason to be scared - e.g. arachnophobia because most spiders (giant ones with fangs excepted) are no threat. Things like fast cars carry a real risk, being scared of going very fast isn't a phobia because theres real danger there.
You can of course still be scared of doing something yet do it anyway. Bravery isn't the lack of fear, it's the conquering of it.

the fear is dying not going fast. at those speeds control is sometimes lost and the chances of being seriously hurt or killed are a high risk its like you know you will be F***d if something went wrong and you crashed. I think it is deffinatly legitemint.

WHAT!!!!
Of course people can be scared of those things, the same as people can be scared of flying, heights, spiders, water ... it's an irrational fear but no less "legitimate" for that

Put me on a roller coaster and I will get sick to my stomach and vomit on everyone near by. And that my dear is reason enough for me to stay as far away from them as possible.
