Yes it is impossible to sink in the dead sea. The salt content makes the water so thick all you can do is float. It's even very difficult to try to wade or walk through the water b/c it's so buoyant!

I have been told by a jordanian national when I was there that it is virtually impossible to sink as there is such a high content of Minerals and salts that you virtually float even if you tried to sink you couldnt. Having been in the Dead Sea the water feels luxurious on your skin, its like having oil tipped all over you when you walk into the sea. The water feels thick.

Sure you could sink. But like the people before me said, the high salt content makes it easier to float. The same is true for the Great Salt Lake in Utah.
