I would ice it and wrap it up in a moderately tight bandage. If there is weird bruising ( like on a place that you didn't hit your arm,) then I would go to the Dr. because you may have a hairline fracture, or you could have chipped the bone.

Ice is great option, however, after 11hours and still throbbing, you really need an x-ray to be able to know for sure. Freak accidents happen you could very well have a broken arm. I threw a book bag in the back seat and tore a rotator cuff (muscle that holds the bone together in the shoulder) for three months I thought i had a stretched muscle. It required surgery. Go see the doctor. Good luck and God bless

Put ice on it in the first 24 hours... then something warm after 24 hours- if it's still sore.... if it persists and gets worst... see your doctor.

yes ice is the best option.....for the first 72 hours, this will numb the nerve ending and relieve pain, but after 72 hours....heat application is advice coz this will increase blood flow and promote muscle relaxation, and reduces joint stiffness!!!
