I have tried overwriting it... deleting it but still it is the same ...
I am hosted by godaddy and using wordpress as my CMS.

Just drop the favicon.ico in your root folder.

The problem is that your client has cached your old favicon (and its not bothering to ask the server if it's been updated), so it doesn't discover your new one.

Just clear your cache [1] and your new favicon should appear.
