Try Eurostar, though you might end up in Brussels without other bookings from Brussles to Amsterdam, anyways, from me to London it's about 99 euro if you book well in advance.

just checked their website, it's freaking expencive the other way around.

Here's an example, nvm dates, times and prizes, they vary a lot depending on when you book before travel:

Outward journey
London Waterloo Int to Amsterdam Cs Depart: Fri 27th October 2006 - 07:43
Arrive: Fri 27th October 2006 - 14:06
Duration: 05h23m 1 Change Standard and Comfort 2
Fully flexible £180.00
Return journey
Amsterdam Cs to London Waterloo Int Depart: Sun 29th October 2006 - 15:56
Arrive: Sun 29th October 2006 - 21:56
Duration: 07h00m 1 Change

Try: www.ns.nl

That's the Dutch Rail website. Click on English and click on International trains.

The cheapest way to go from London to Amsterdam is by the high-speed ferry. London-Harwich -> Hoek van Holland-Amsterdam.

Check: www.stenaline.nl

If you are futher north than London, I would recommend taking a ferry.

You can go from Newcastle to Ijmuden, which is right next to Amsterdam, or from Hull to Rotterdam, and then get the train from there.
