Of all the answers given, how come nobody asks how the child *feels*, and why make a lie? There must be a *reason* behind to risk for the blame.
If parents care to *listen* to their chid's heart, children feel being loved.

Sometimes, adults are wrong but are never to be yelled at or you'll get a slap! I dont understand your exact deal above though it didnt make sense...you studied and did an exam and then told your mom that you 'didnt do it' that you'll have it on a later date? I dont understand that. Dad's are better to deal with mouthy teens!

Judging by the vast majority of the answers, I hope you get the point. While men should not hit any woman, a father correcting an errant child is not quite the same. Generally speaking, a slap is more insult than anything else. Most people don't expect a slap to do any severe damage although it could.
Bite the bullet, learn from your experience.
Look at life this way, things either "work" or the "don't work".
What you did "didn't work", you got slapped.
Find out what works and do it, you just might get hugged next time.

You lied, and you were caught being ill responsible and you started yelling at your father. So, you disrespected both of your parents and you are upset. Hmm, I think you really need to think about apologizing to your parents and taking responsibility for your studies, and not lieing about what you should be doing. You parents have all the right to be upset with you. And you should not be lieing or yelling at either one of them. It is there duty as parents to ensure you do the right thing. You should apologize for your lack of less than desirable behavior. Hopefully, you will learn from this situation and not repeat it in the future. Good luck and God bless

I'm not condoning your father slapping your face, but parents discipline you because they love you and want the very best for you. When you lie or misbehave some punishment should be expected so you will not repeat the offense. You should apologize to your parents for the lie and try to forgive your father he was raised in a different generation. My parents use to beat me to a pulp to get me to respect and submit to them, when I raised my own children I chose to not incorporate physical punishment other than a light tap on the behind to get them moving....
There are always consequences to our actions or lack of actions..

what you think your parents are old fools that know nothing guess what they were your age once too so why not move out live on your own quit school do you really need your parents
kid get a life act your age and respect your parents

First of all no one should disrespect their parents. Your lucky that you have parents who care enough to slap you. If you were my kid Id slap you too. One for lying two for talking back and three for even thinking about beating me up. Thank your parents for loving you enough to care about what you do in school.

You were punished and you deserved it you have to give respect to get it and if you were shouting at your father chances are you weren't showing him proper respect...Forgive him because he already forgave you and live with it
