i have a maxtor personal storage 3100 (200 GB) and i just dropped it and now when i plug it in it makes a weird melody and it doesnt get detected by the computer. can this be fixed>

That 'melody' you hear is an indication that your HD is fried. Sorry, but time for a new one... Put it in the freezer overnight and you might get it working long enough to transfer 'some' info to a new drive,,, but not likely in this case. good luck :-)

It might be fixed, but it's not worth it.
These damages, wich make not only bad sectors but make the winchester completely unusable are so fatal damages that cost more than even the price you bought it. So just buy a new one.

it too hard but not imposible.u must find a HDD expert repairer in your city to fix it
it might have bad sectors after that event or an electrec shock

if you purchase it the warrrenty period is not over. and hdd is have any physical demage than go the service centre with the bill they will replace it or

show local service man who fix the hdd porblem
