You can probably never remove them permanently. The spores from the toadstools shed into the lwan and remain dormant until the weather conditiond are right for them to grow again. In the meantime, Use a shovel or trowel to cut them off at the base. Do not pick them up with your unprotected hands as many of them are poisonous. Use gloves or a plastic beg to pick them up and place int a bog and dicard into the garbage. Wah your hands afterward just in case tou got them on your hands.

If they are mushrooms and you are sure pick them and eat them as others have suggested. If you do not like mushrooms then using a watering can half full of water and add to it a tablespoon of Bicarbonate of Soda. Mix well and sprinkle on the area of lawn effected. You may need to do this twice.

Is it essential to remove them? You could get a book on mushroom/toadstool identification and see what they are. They could be edible (caution of course, if you are going to eat them) but they could also be very attractive to you and to wildlife.

You should use weed and feed. Or you can spray with round up but it will kill the grass. Must be to wet or they would not grow. Old way is to pour boiling water on them.
