Unless 1 of the parents is a citizen of Canada, the child will not be given automatic status in Canada. Check out the government site below.

That of the country they are born in plus Canada. dual citizen.
but beware, some countries wont allow you to give birth overseas to claim that dual citizenship for your child.
new zealand has changed its residency laws recently as heaps of people were doing just that. here for the free healthcare, birth, then gone.
