The skin on my hands has become very thin. Whenever I bump against something I tear the skin. I am not talking about wrenching on an engine and getting a knuckle buster, It happens when I am just doing every day things. Like taking something out of the fridge and the top of my hand hits the bottom of the shelf. Most people it would just scratch the skin, The top layer will just come right off.
Sure, It heals in a week or so but then there is a scar and I do it again. Right now I have 17 open wounds on my hands. It dosent seem to be happening anywhere else but then again the rest of my body is protected by clothes.
I am now 46 years old, I could understand this if I was 70.
Can anyone recommend....anything?

It sounds as if you have a problem with your skin thickness. There is nothing I know of available over the counter which will help. Go and see your doctor, he may be able to prescribe something to help. There are some illnesses which cause this problem but without any other symptoms described you do need to see the doc!

Hi Mike
This is really a serious problem. My first advice to you is go and get your blood checked for diabatic. Also go for HB test of your blood. Keep your rest of body protected and try to get in sun for atleast half hour before 11 Am in morning and after 4 in evening. As you have told your skin is getting thicker this means you lack vitamin D.
But final deal rests on your report of Blood test then only the real problem will be on table.
take care and get well soon!!!

Go and see your doctor but in the meantime use plenty of cream as it sounds like your skin hasn't got much elasticity. You should also use gloves (cotton) it will give you the extra protection, you can get them in boots.
