No way, I'd leave that decision to my child when he/she gets older. It's nothing critical or life threatening.

Maybe, if it could easily be done without leaving a horrible scar. I would only do it to protect the child from being harassed later on for being different.

I have heard that about one in a hundred children actually are born with a small tail and the drs just snip it off right away.

If the toe was preventing the child from walking or standing properly then I think it would be an assessment to think seriously about. But a foot Dr. would be able to tell u more than anyone here on what he sees in the future for the child. But just for it to be a 'normal' looking foot no. Why change it if its not hurtful in anyway? For your child having that extra toe is normal! Did you know that Marilyn Monroe also had 6 toes on one foot? Bet not many people even paid her foot much attention.

If it did'nt have any long term physical effects then no, I wouldnt do any sugery that wasnt required. Cutting off the toe is likely to lead to more problems than it solves and if shoes are going to be a problem cutting the toe of is likely to make little difference. You'd effectively have to cut off a side of the foot. For many reasons the toe would stay on. Put it like this, would you want it to be cut off if it was you? I'd would have been angry with my parents if they'd mutilated me at a young age. That was my sixth toe - it would have been so cool!

If the condition does not affect the child's health and does not pose any problem to his/her ability of walking and in finding the right shoes' size, I would not let the doctors cut off the toe. I will let my kid decide on the issue when he/she is old enough to understand. Otherwise, I will let the doctors operate on the extra toe.

Hmmmmm, no, because there would be a space for another toe, and no toe. If, however, shoes were never going to fit, then I would say, snip that toe off.

No not all persons are born with an further finger or toe whether it extremely is extremely effortless. usually mothers and dads in basic terms have it snipped off almost immediately after the toddler is born by way of fact its an exceedingly effortless technique. they don't in all probability resemble hands or ft they are in basic terms little extra products.

Might as well, the way society is going and the acceptance of cosmetic surgery they would probably only have it done when older. Plus they will miss out on all the cruelty of children at school.

No. If the child had six toes, that would be fine with me.

Nah, I think I would just tell the doctor to keep it, I could always make more.

Maybe next time my sperm won't keep knocking eachother around like hockey players on the way to the egg and I won't have mutant kids.

You have to consider the childs future, and as we all know, children in general are cruel little things (I have four so know what I'm talking about!!) and the treatment that he/she is likely to recieve from his/her peers should be looked at with the decision.

I would have to say Yes, every time.
