No, political correctness came out of neccessity. And the libs/dems did not create political correctness, the people who were being hurt by stupid comments did-not just minorities-the mentally and physically challenged, homosexuals, women, children, etc.
Please stop trying to sound intelligent and actually BE intelligent.

I think there has always been a sort of PC about, and both sides are guilty. I think we on the left did go too far with it, but there's a lot of no-nos on the right. Perhaps it was started to do what you suggest, but it has gotten a little out of control. On the other hand, there is no excuse for blatant hate-mongering or racism. We have to have some moral framework in place I guess.
