Absolutely not, but I do think that if the government made it compulsory to get a job in the 5th year when they go to school, and make sure they get weaned off all the benefits and low rents as they start earning, it would be a strong deterrent.

I think it would be more important t look at why she felt the need to 'escape' the family home she is living in. I got myself pregnent at 16 in order to escape a violent and very unhappy family home, I felt it was my only way out. I didn't look for free housing I went to stay with my partners parents, but maybe some young people aren't as lucky as to have that option. For what reason should that baby be taken into care? Because I had had such an unhappy childhood I was determined to be a god and loving parent, no a day goes by when I don't tell my children how much I love them and I am proud to say that my son is now a very bright and lovely 17 year old who will soon be off to RADA, I also have 3 other wonderful children who are well behavioured, intelligent and come from a very happy, loving home. Don't presume that a young mum is a bad mum!!

No, it will cost more to take the children into custody. In the U.S., parents are no longer rewarded for having more children. They do not get the full amount of cash assistance when they have another child while on welfare. Also, they must prove that they are participating in the workforce program in order to receive the cash benefit. Now housing is another story. They can get housing at a ridiculously low rate when they have children. But again, it will cost more to take the child away.

Well, the main concern should be if she is taking care of the children with this money. If the children are not being taken care of or if they are being miss treated then CYFD should be notified. I don't think there is anything wrong with some women getting assistance. I' just wondering why the father isn't supporting this family too.

Then there would be the problem of where to put all the children.
I think a better idea would be instead of poutting the mothers in a house with their child, to put them into barracks with other people the same until they get a job and can afford to support themselves.

Why would a girl do that? It's not a good life to have, is it? Makes no sense.
I've heard of lifetime welfare families doing that, but never actually met someone who did. Is that what you're referring to, or are you assuming all girls who get pregnant and have no job must be doing it for that reason?

Yeah that's really smart , let's take the kid away , like it asked to be born , then we can pay for the littlun to be brought up by total stranger's , then we can pay for foster care for 16yrs , of course the girl's got to have some sort of accomodation as well , like a house or flat , c/mon think about it !

I do not like to say this ,but british girls must be the dumbest girls on the planet. They have the honour of being the most pregnant teenage girls on the planet ,also the most divorced. Their children should not be taken into care ,it,s no fault ot theirs. But come on you girls use your heads not your *******.
