Depending the type of file on the CD, it seems that your Media Player is missing the appropriate "Codec" to play video as well as sound. Go to Microsoft's web site & search for "Media Player Codecs"....they are freely downloadable.

If you are using a third party media player you will need to visit that manufacturer's web site for the patch. This usually happens when using the more recent DivX or some advanced AVI file formats.

Could you play the file before you burned it to CD, if you could you should have the correct codecs to play it in your computer. If you can't play it on your PC the file hasn't been copied correctly.

If you are trying to play it on a domestic DVD player that is another matter and you should have created a DVD/VCD using Nero, Roxio or the like although most domestic DVD player will simply not play it.

If you have something like Nero see if that will read the file then instead of just burning it to disk see if you can make a video disk of it.

If you are trying to play it on a differnent PC make sure that that machine has the same codecs installed as the one from which it was burned.

you state CD, but do it again, using Nero,or other burning software,to a DVD.one that's compatable with your DVD Player.
