Sarah,
He may be basing your due date on the results of your ultrasound rather than your last menstrual period. When the date we get by sono is more than 2 weeks different than that calculated by your last period, we use the sono.

Be active in your care. Ask him if your sono due date is consistent with your period. If you are truly 37 weeks, it is probably time to begin cervical exams as well as testing you for GBS & STDs (STDs are tested for at the beginning & at the end of pregnancy). Also, you should be seeing your doc every week now, not every 2.

I guess some doctors have a different way of going about things. My doctor with my last child ( i had a different dr for my other pregnancies as i lived in a different state) He didnt check my cervix during pregnancy at all. I was im labour for over 4 hours b4 he said i better have a look and i was only 6 cm, he said get up and have a shower or i will go home for a while. He wasnt being mean, i had just woken him at 2 in the morning. (small country hospital). I had a shower for 5 minute and delivered her 20 minutes later.
I thought it was a little strange that the doctor or mid wife didnt check but it made no difference to my delivery

I had my first pelvic exam at 39 weeks, and remember it is normal to have your baby anywhere between 38 and 42 weeks. So long as your healthy and tests are fine with your examinations then I would not worry.
Each pregnancy is different, and each women shows changes to her cervix at all different times, right up until just before you have the baby, especially if it is your first. As long as you are feeling healthy, baby is moving and tests are ok I would not worry.

you are in your 37th week.. You havent completed it yet!! and no...nothing more should be happening at your visits. I am a week ahead of you and theres not much goin on at mine either. at about 38 weeks he will check your cervix to see if you're dialated and if its less than 4 centimeters he will send you back home. its just a waiting game now...wait to go into labor.

I would think that by 37 weeks he would do a pelvic exam.
The doctor might think the baby hasn't dropped enough for him to feel the need to check.your cervex.
It is time to ask him.....Please check my cervex.
