Absolutely!!
I do understand that there are situations where putting an animal down is in the animals best interest .. however, this is less than 1% of all abandoned animal situations.
I agree, all shelters need volunteers, fund-raisers, donations.
Do what you can, no matter how little it is, all the littles will add up!
Protect our furry friends!
And yes // spay/neuter .. and most of all EDUCATE!

Yes! YES! YES!
There is too many shelters that do not have the No Kill policy. I think it is wrong to kill the animals, just because they arent young enough or cute enough to be picked out by someone in a certain amount of time.
That is just wrong to do that. The No Kill Policy is the best thing to happen to animals around the world.
Is your SPCA considering changing the policy? If they are try to start a group that will donate some time to the shelter or provide foster homes for some of the animals so they will have more room at the fecility for animals.
This will help, and may change the minds of your SPCA shelter.
Hope I helped. Wishing you good luck..
~To all others, get your animals Spayed/Neutered to prevent overpopulation in the Shelters. This saves many lives of animals, and prevents Animal Shelters from putting a limit on the time an animal can seek care there. Thank you so much.~

I work at a no kill shelter and it is a difficult endevour. There are too many animals and not enough homes. If you have a no kill shelter, you either HAVE to start euthanizing, or turn away animals. A shleter can only house so many animals and there are only so many resources. You will get animals dropped off that have treatable, yet costly medical conditiions.....like Diabetes. Do you treat that animal, or use those resources to treat many other animals??????????
When animals like that come in, do you turn them away so you will not have to euthanize them?????
The thing is, most NO KILL shelters do euthanize these animals with problems, and animals with behavior issues,or temperment issues. They keep the healthy, most adoptable animals...which makes sense. People should realize that even at no kill shelters, if they bring in animals with too many issues....they will probably be put down. Any shelter that says they do not do this is lying, or not taking in animals with problems in the first place.
Most are actually LOW kill.
And I can assure you, it is WAY more than 1% of animals that come in that need to be euthanized!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine if only 1% of animals coming into shelters were euthanized and the rest were kept????????? There would be a WAY worse overcrowding situation than there is now!!!!!!!!

You better believe it! We have the absolute best no-kill shelter that's been entirely run on donations. They even take in dogs and cats from kill shelters when they have the space. I'm on a low income, but I donate items to their annual yard sales, donate many items to their bake sales, donate items they request (like kitty litter). Everyone can do something. These are great dedicated people and deserve our support.
Oh, and a no-kill shelter doesn't mean the animal suffers in a pen. Ours has volunteers who walk the dogs every day, they take them to nursing homes for visits and schools, and have a play yard for the dogs and a big play room (with lots of fun places to hide and climb) for the cats. They are very aware of the animals mental health.

that's good if you support your local SPCA. so what happens when the shelter runs out of room to put the animals. and what is going to happen to an animals mind if its kept in a pin until it dies itself. how would one of you like to sit behind bars until you died because someone didn't pick you.
