Laughter may be a social tool but it also has the power to spread "good chemicals" in the body. Laughter is the best medicine they say and that is why we try to keep children and adults who are in hospital, smiling and in good humour.

What's the point of sneezing out loud when you are alone?
What's the point of singing out loud to your favorite song when you're alone, or coughing, or farting?

The point is that you are alive and can do whatever you wish while alone.
It would be quite odd to be watching a funny movie and try and suppress a laugh because you are alone.
That's an extremely self conscious and neurotic attitude.

There does not necessarily have to be a point. Laughter is an automatic response to something you find funny, amusing or absurd. Research shows that people who laugh, live longer than those who don't, so it is obviously good for your health. Maybe we should do it more often - anyway, it's better than moaning.

can you stop yourself from laughing out loud because I cant. If something is amusing to me whether it be when I am on my own or not, I could cry laughing if its funny. Otherwise it would be a complete fake laugh.
Why laugh out loud just for others and not for yourself?
Laughter is fantastic, it makes people fell happy and most of all me.
Thanks for the laugh (and it was out loud and I was on my own)

LOL is not a social activity for me, ita an impulse that I readily give into for my own pure enjoyment. Smiling on the other hand, is more of a social thing to me, however, I still smile at nature when I take a walk by myself in the forest. I guess I am interacting with my innerself?

laughing is such a wonderful thing. The Lord blessed us when he gave us laughter. You MUST laugh every day. Laugh AND sing. I do it all the time and I live on my own. Laugh Dance and Sing. Its the most rewarding activity you can do with or without others.

I have wept and I have laughed hysterically over something I have watched on television, or read in a good book.

I have never considered if there was a point, surely its pure emotion.

It can hurt or it can feel good, weather you share it or not?
