Im also looking for a pc for the same use. Current in technology, and mainly affordable. If it runs XP, it will be FINE!

I recomend best buy, or circuit city, or walmart. I would never get a computer over the mail for return & emergency reasons. Something very releaving about being able to drive to where your got a pc from.

Anyway, you will not need to spend more than $550 to 600. Since you only use the internet, you can literally buy the cheapest available. Even the cheapest laptop you can get at the major retailors are faster than desktop pcs from a few years ago, so dont think the cheap ones are too weak in any form.

All laptops are looking "cute" i think. Sleek, and in no way cheap looking.

Check the major retailors websites for some examples :).

The first 2 links are slick looking laptops and affordable! ($450) BestBuy seems ot be the cheapest.

I'd recommend Dell Inspirons. They are reliable & reputable. Dell Support is okay, depending on your level of computer saviness.
oh, and the prices are reasonable too.
